FORK is a difference maker in local community
By Vilas News-Review, Posted on June 28, 2022
On behalf of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the Weekend Backpack program, we would like to publicly express our gratitude to Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK) for leading the recent matching fundraising campaign in support of the local Weekend Backpack programs.
Being an independent program, the campaign and matching grant from FORK is significant and a game changer for our Backpack Program and community. The Prince of Peace Weekend Backpack program serves 100-plus kids on a weekly basis in the Northland Pines and Phelps school districts.
For the 2022-’23 school year, we expect our food expenses to approach $25,000 so this fundraiser and matching support from FORK will 100% be used to purchase food for local school children.
In a very short period of time, FORK has become a difference-maker to the community. We are grateful to President Perry Pokrandt, the FORK board of directors and the community for supporting this much-needed fundraising campaign.
