Trig’s offers ‘Round Up’ program as Feed Our Rural Kids fundraiser

Now through Nov. 30, customers at Trig’s in Eagle River will be asked to round up their purchase payments to the nearest dollar, with all those pennies going to support childhood nutrition programs within the Northland Pines School District.
“Pennies really do add up and individuals really can make a difference,” said Perry Pokrandt, president of Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK). “This makes Trig’s ‘Round Up’ program a difference maker for FORK and the community.”
The way it works is simple, according to Pokrandt. If a customer’s bill totals $27.58 cents, for example, “Rounding Up” means the customer will pay the cashier $28 even. The difference of 42 cents will be donated to FORK.
FORK will then use those pennies to fund its FORK Cares, Meals NOW, Formula Support and Jump Start programs. People can learn more about FORK and each of those support efforts at FeedOurRuralKids.org
“We are excited to have found this opportunity to partner with Feed Our Rural Kids,” said Brad Brayshaw, senior director of retail operations at Trig’s. “The November ‘Round Up’ is the perfect program at the perfect time of year to help this community to feed children from food insecure homes.”
Terry Tryggeseth, Trig’s store director in Eagle River, said the grocery store is ready to participate.
“FORK is making an impact in our local communities and my team is excited to do our part to help feed our rural kids,” said Tryggeseth.
Pokrandt said the “Round Up” program has good timing.
“With no end in sight, the pandemic is certain to also leave its mark on the year ahead,” said Pokrandt. “Simply stated, it means 2021 will see more children in need of nutritional support. Trig’s ‘Round Up’ effort is a blessing and FORK is grateful for their support.”
Pokrandt said donations greater than pennies can be made online at FeedOurRualKids.org/RoundUp. In addition, checks can be mailed to Round Up, 4887 Echo Ridge Dr., Eagle River, WI 54521.
