Trig’s ‘Round Up’ program helping to feed area youths

Trig’s “Round Up” program to feed local youths is entering its third week.

Now, through the end of the month, Trig’s customers in Eagle River are being asked to round up their purchase payments to the nearest dollar. Those pennies will be used by Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK) Inc., in support of their childhood nutrition programs within the Northland Pines School District.

Those program include: FORK Cares, Meals Now, Formula Support Program and Jump Start.

“Pennies do add up,” said

FORK Treasurer Dan Beihoff. “With the cost of a single meal in Vilas County being $3.55, it means that FORK can feed a child when just a handful of Trig’s customers decide to round up their purchase price.”

“At Trig’s, we have seen the power of the generosity of our customers at work in support of a good cause,” said Brad Brayshaw, senior director of retail operations at Trig’s. “This month’s ‘Round Up’ will help this community to feed more children from food insecure homes throughout the upcoming year through this partnership with FORK.”

“What better time of the year for people to count their blessings and do what they can to help children right here in their own hometown,” said Trig’s Eagle River Store Director Terry Tryggeseth. “With Trig’s ‘Round Up’ program, everyone can be a part of the solution for the year ahead.”

“As the year winds down, we catch ourselves thinking about what’s ahead,” said  FORK President Perry Pokrandt. “As of right now, 2021 looks to be a challenge for FORK and our efforts to support local childhood nutrition programs. Due to the ongoing nature of the pandemic, we are certain to see more families financially challenged and that means there will be more children in need of nutritional support.”

“FORK is eager to have people personally consider making a donation by rounding up at Trig’s, or making a separate year-end gift,” concluded Beihoff.

Pokrandt continued, “It’s this kind of personal act of generosity that will provide children from the Northland Pines School District an ever brighter promise of hope for their future.”

“Don’t be shy. If your cashier forgets to ask you to round up, please let them know that you want to help feed local kids,” concluded Tryggeseth.
