River Charity Paddle to benefit FORK

Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK) will benefit from a new fundraising event next June thanks to Wildwood Outdoor Adventures and Campground in Eagle River, which will stage the first FORK on the River Charity Paddle on the Wisconsin River.

Since day one, FORK has depended on the community for support to help them provide the nutritional support to children from food insecure homes within the Northland Pines, Three Lakes and Phelps school districts.

The event will happen on June 7 with a two-hour recreational paddle on the Wisconsin River from the drop off point at the Highway G boat landing to the docks at Wildwood Campground on Mud Creek.

“Our business is at a point where we felt it was time to give back to our community,” offered Wildwood co-owner Nicole Bach. “FORK on the River was the result of our conversations with Feed Our Rural Kids.”

“Recently we were approached by Wildwood Outdoor Adventures and Campground in Eagle River to put on a fundraiser for our organization,” explained FORK President Perry Pokrandt. “We are very excited to announce the creation of the FORK on the River Charity Paddle.”

Bach added that her family has always been about community. “FORK is such a great fit for us, because of all they do to support our area’s children.”

Registration will be limited to the first 210 paddlers. Individuals can bring their own boar or rent a canoe, kayak or standup paddleboard (SUP) from Wildwood.

The event cost for a participant bringing their own boat is $45. To register for a preferred launch time, call 715-360-3200.

“Discounted boat rentals will be available,” added Bach. “As well, we will be hosting a post-paddle party at Wildwood Campground.’

The event will also include free food and drink with an event logo dry bag for paddlers and will feature music by Bret and Frisk.

“We are honored to be included in this event,” concluded Pokrandt. “We can only hope that the community will make a point to join in on all the fun!”
