Jerry Burkett, president of the Greater Northwoods MLS Realtor® (GNMLS) service, recently presented a check for $1,000 to Perry Pokrandt, president of Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK), an organization which strives to provide nutritional support for children in Vilas County.

“No person better understands the dynamics around what makes a community a great place to live better than a professional realtor,” said Pokrandt. “This is what makes FORK’s recognition by GNMLS so special. We are grateful for their financial donation toward our mission of providing nutritional support to children from food insecure homes in eastern and central Vilas County.”

This year the Realtors of GNMLS have given $16,000 to charities benefiting Wisconsin residents including food pantries, homeless shelters, the arts, children’s clubs, and other social support organizations.

“There is no better cause than feeding our children, said Burkett. “This is the best new organization in the North Woods.”

GNMLS has provided $2,000 of support for Team Up Against Hunger, and $1,000 each to the Northwoods Children’s Museum, Sno-Eagles, Inc. Great Headwaters Trail, Eagle River Historical Society, and The Warehouse Art Center in Eagle River; Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing-Fredrick Place and YMCA of the Northwoods in Rhinelander; Campanile Center for the Arts in Minocqua; Vets and Guides, Inc. in Lake Tomahawk; Three Rivers United Temporary Housing-Our Sisters’ House in Tomahawk; Mercer Area Food Pantry; Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northwoods in Antigo;  and Ladies of Bluegrass.

The Greater Northwoods MLS serves nearly 650 Realtors, primarily across northcentral Wisconsin. The MLS also provides a public search portal of current property listings at upnorthmls.com available on computers and mobile devices.
