Gratitude expressed to FORK

Dear Editors:
On behalf of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the Weekend Backpack Program, we would like to publicly express our gratitude to Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK) for leading the recent matching fundraising campaign in support of the local Weekend Backpack programs.
Being an independent program, the campaign and matching grant from FORK is significant and a game changer for our Backpack Program and community.
For the past school year, the Prince of Peace Weekend Backpack Program served nearly 120 kids on a weekly basis in the Northland Pines and Phelps school districts.
For the 2023-’24 school year, we expect our food expenses to approach $30,000, so this fundraiser and matching support from the FORK Endowment will 100% be used to purchase food for local school children.
FORK is a difference-maker to the community. We are grateful to President Perry Pokrandt, the FORK Board of Directors, and the community for supporting this much needed fundraising campaign.
Thank You!
Sandy Bishop
