Will I need to train for the ride?
Bicycling is excellent exercise and the best way to train for any distance is to ride regularly. TO work up to a goal distance you should consider gradually increasing your distance every few days, allowing your body and saddle-area to adjust. There are many training programs online, but please make sure you and your doctor agree that you're up to the challenge before taking on any increased or new exercise

Will this race be timed?
First, this is not a race, it's a leisurely ride, a 2-wheeled ice cream crawl. The purpose of this ride is to eat ice cream and raise money to support children nutritionally from food insecure homes. The only race clock you need be concerned about will be the one you wear on your wrist and the setting sun.

I have a tandem/electric/recumbent bike and/or I'm towing a trailer, are those allowed?
Short answer is yes. The only bikes that are not allowed are gasoline powered ones.

Do you have any other general safety tips?
  • Make sure you bike is in good working condition
  • No alcohol before your ride, drinking and riding a bicycle can be dangerous
  • Ride at a safe speed that leaves you in control of your bike
  • Be aware that bicycles you are passing can swerve without warning (especially children or people on their phones) so pass carefully
  • Do not use your phone while bicycling - pull over, stop the bike, and change your music, take your call or send your text
  • You will be riding near roads that can have vehicle traffic. The trail does cross some roadways, so always look both directions before crossing traffic lanes.

When riders on the 5- and 25-mile route arrive at the Corner Store in Sayner they will receive an ice cream cone in their favorite flavor.
