Mom’s Message to FORK touched board members

Letter to the Editor:
On Thursday of last week, Feed Our Rural Kids Inc. (FORK) made the first home food deliveries as part of its Meals Now program.
In each package was a printed Meals Now label with an explanation of the program. In addition, we asked each family to “like” FORK on Facebook. Many of those people have reached out and we appreciate that connection to all of them. When people like us on Facebook, FORK reaches back to every person to thank them for joining the FORK community online.
But this letter is not about what FORK does or says on Facebook. It is to share a message FORK received from one local mom. Her reply unexpectedly left our board and me speechless.
“Thanks for helping my family,” she typed. Her five simple words touched deeply the heart of each FORK board member. I know I will never forget her words within these difficult times.
I write to you in the News-Review merely to let this community share in the gratitude felt by that mom and so many others. FORK wants each person who has been a part of this process to know that their gifts are being appreciated.
She said, “Thanks for helping my family.” FORK’s reply — and we speak from our heart — “You are welcome.”
“Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?” —Matthew 25: 37-39
Gratefully,
Daniel Beihoff
