Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK) Inc., a registered 501(c)3 organization, was created to raise money to provide nutritional support to school-aged children from food insecure homes within the Northland Pines School District.
Today, the organization announced its website is up and running and open for business.
“In creating this website, we wanted to provide information for people interested in our organization, learn more about FORK and the greater food insecurity issues faced by children,” said FORK Director Jessica Allen.
Feedourruralkids.org provides visitors with information about FORK and its goals. Also available on the website is an ever-expanding catalog of facts on subjects affecting childhood food insecurity from a local, state and national perspective.
Visitors to the site are also able to access FORK’s calendar of events, as well as get information about how and where families can get nutritional help for their children.
“Also important, as our second goal for the site, was that we wanted people to be able to communicate with us,” said Allen.
The feedoururualkids.org ‘Contact Us’ page allows anyone to submit their questions related to the FORK mission and the food insecurity issue directly to the board of directors.
“In addition, anyone is invited to submit their ideas related to how we can best provide children from food insecure homes the nutritional support they need,” said Allen.
“Beyond the information and the communication pieces, the final and yet equally important aspect of our new website is to provide our supporters an opportunity to get involved,” said Perry Pokrandt, president of FORK. “The new site gives people a place to register as a potential volunteer on future projects as well as a place where they can donate to this effort financially.”
Donations to FORK can be made various ways through the website. The first being through a cash transfer donation through Paypal, and the second by allowing supporters to donate using a credit or debit card within the website. Checks to FORK are accepted via mail to Feed Our Rural Kids Inc., 4887 Echo Ridge Drive, Eagle River, WI 54521.
“Feedourruralkids.org, as a website, will always be a work in progress as FORK moves forward as an organization,” said Pokrandt. “But as of today, we are ready to invite the community in for a visit.”
