Pastor Catie Ford of Faith Lutheran Church in Three Lakes is the newest addition to the board of directors for Feed Our Rural Kids Inc. (FORK).
“New faces bring new ideas. So, it is important for the FORK Board of Directors to be open to the opportunity to add new perspective to our outlook on the issue of rural childhood food insecurity,” said FORK President Perry Pokrandt. “Catie enhances FORK by way of her youthful enthusiasm and endless passion for helping those less fortunate, especially children.”
Ford said that being part of the local and wider community is important to her.
“I can’t think of a better way to be involved than to be part of FORK and the services the organization provides for children and families across the area,” she said. “Matthew 25:35 reads, ‘For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.’ Jesus asked for these things for himself and everyone then and now.”
FORK is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide nutritional support to children from food insecure homes. Currently, FORK manages five nutritional support programs: FORK Cares, Meals Now, Jump Start, Formula Support and FORK’s Children’s Pantry program.
Ford joins other directors on the FORK board Scott Foster, Jackie Coghlan, Jessica Allen, Rich Miech and Dan Beihoff; as well as board advisors Carol Marshall and Jean Arndt.
