FORK Pantry – SOAR Charter High School/Closet
Like all other FORK Pantry locations, the FORK Pantry - SOAR Charter High School/Closet is a standalone food pantry that is pushing back against childhood hunger by improving local access to free food for hungry children from food insecure homes. As a community based food pantry, focused on the specific nutritional needs of kids, the FORK Pantry - SOAR Charter High School in Eagle River is sure to bring peace of mind to the community's families with children at risk.
FORK’s Soar Charter High School Food Pantry Program overcomes obstacles to helping feed kids.
- Timeliness: When a student is able to provide themselves immediate support through the availability of basic food pantry style Grab-n-Go food from the FORK Pantry, as part of their school's 'Closet' program, food insecure High School aged children at attending Northland Pines' SOAR High School will not need to suffer the distraction and discomfort of mid-day hunger stressors.
- Proximity: Placing a FORK Pantry in the SOAR Charter High School as part of their 'Closet' program means that High School aged kids are provided a source of free food, closer to the children who need this kind of additional food support.
- Availability: It is the placement of a FORK Pantry in the Soar Charter High School as part of their 'Closet' program, that allows this school's students access to free food over a greater number of hours a day and days per week. It is this improved access, at more convenient times of the day, that allows food insecure kids to find real food support more adjacent to their actual time of need.
